Community guidelines
In force from the day Tong launches publicly · Applies to profiles, photos and chat on Tong
In short
Tong is for making friends. Everyone you see has said they are 18 or over, has a verified Bangladeshi number and has passed a live camera check. These guidelines keep Tong real, kind and safe. They apply to your profile, your photos and everything you send in chat. If you break them, we may remove content, warn you, suspend you or ban you (see "What happens if someone breaks these rules" below).
Be real
- Be yourself. Use your own name, your true date of birth and photos of you.
- One person, one account. Don't share, sell or buy accounts.
- Don't pretend to be someone else, a celebrity or a brand.
- Don't make fake profiles or use AI-made faces.
Photo rules
Every photo must:
- be of you, recent, with your face clearly visible and facing the camera;
- show only you. Crop other people out.
Fine: hijab, caps, glasses, and ordinary clothes, including traditional and sports clothes.
Not allowed:
- nudity, sexual poses or underwear;
- swimwear as the focus of the photo;
- weapons shown to threaten, violence or gore;
- hate symbols;
- drugs;
- children, including you as a child;
- celebrities, cartoons, avatars, AI-made or heavily filtered faces;
- photos of someone else;
- text, phone numbers, social media handles, QR codes or logos that promote something.
A face covered by a niqab, a mask or sunglasses that hide the eyes can't be verified. See "Covered faces" in Help.
Profile text
- Write in your own words, in English or Bangla.
- Don't put phone numbers, links, website names, email addresses or @handles on your profile. They are the main way scams and spam start.
- No slurs, no sexual offers and no scam lines. Our filter blocks phone numbers, links, website names, email addresses and @handles.
Respect people
- No harassment or bullying. Don't insult, threaten, stalk or keep messaging someone who doesn't want to talk.
- No hate. Don't attack, insult or threaten anyone for who they are: their religion or beliefs, caste, race, ethnicity or community, skin colour, nationality or where they come from, language, sex or gender (including third gender), gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability or health condition.
- Respect "no". If someone doesn't accept your friend request, unfriends you or blocks you, accept it. Don't pressure anyone. Don't make a new account to reach someone who blocked you.
- Tong isn't a dating app. Don't press anyone for a date, romance or a relationship they haven't asked for.
- Respect privacy. Don't share someone's private details, photos or messages to hurt or shame them.
No sexual content
- Tong is for friendship. Don't send nude or sexual photos, videos or messages, and don't ask for them.
- Don't use Tong to look for sex, or to sell or buy sex.
No scams, spam or selling
- Don't ask anyone for money, loans, gifts, investments, or bank or mobile banking details.
- Don't promote products, services, jobs, other apps or social media accounts.
- Don't send the same message to many people.
- Don't promote gambling, betting or betting apps.
No violence, threats or illegal activity
- Don't threaten or encourage violence.
- Don't show weapons to threaten.
- Don't share or promote terrorism or violent extremism, or material that shows extreme violence, cruelty or crime.
- Don't sell or promote drugs.
- Don't use Tong to break the law.
Keep children safe
Tong is for adults only. We have zero tolerance for anything that sexualises a child. If you see a profile that looks like someone under 18, or anything sexual involving a child, report it at once. Read our child safety standards.
If someone may harm themselves
If a friend says they might harm themselves, report the message with They might harm themselves. Our team may show them support resources, without saying anyone reported. If someone is in immediate danger, call 999 in Bangladesh, or the local emergency number where you are.
Report honestly
Reports help us keep Tong safe. Our team reviews every report within 24 hours, the most urgent first. Reports that are both false and meant to harm someone can lead to a warning.
How to report and block
- Report from someone's profile, from any message in a chat, or from a photo: tap ⋯, or press and hold a message. You can also report someone you blocked, or someone from a chat that ended, for 30 days afterwards (Settings → Privacy → Blocked people, or Report someone from a past chat).
- Choose all the reasons that fit. You can add details if you want. "Also block" is on by default.
- Block from someone's profile or chat. They can't see you or contact you on Tong, and they aren't told.
- The person you report is never told who reported them.
What happens if someone breaks these rules
Our reviewers decide each case and look at the person's history. As a guide:
| How serious | Examples | What we usually do |
|---|---|---|
| Most serious | Anything sexual involving a child; credible threats; sextortion or blackmail; selling sex; someone under 18 | Suspend at once; an admin bans |
| Serious | Explicit nudity; harassment after a warning; hate speech; scams and fraud; pretending to be someone else | Suspend for 7 or 30 days; a repeat means a ban |
| Medium | Suggestive photos; spam; contact details to promote something; a first harassment report with clear evidence; pressing someone for a date | Warn and remove the content |
| Minor | Rudeness that isn't aimed at a group or person; a disagreement | No action |
We may also remove a photo, or ask someone to do the live camera check again. If we remove your photo, warn you or suspend you, the app tells you why. You can appeal a suspension or a ban by email to contact@tong.party within 30 days; an admin who wasn't involved replies within 7 days. See our Terms for details.
