Safety
Safety at Tong
ভরসা bhorsha · trust, something you can lean on
Calm, by design.
Tong is for making friends, so it’s built to let you relax: checks before anyone sees you, a say in who finds you, and help one tap away. Here’s what we do, and what you can do.
Before anyone sees you
18+ only
Tong is only for people aged 18 or over, in every country.
A Bangladeshi number
Every account confirms a Bangladeshi mobile number by SMS. It keeps one person to one account, and keeps banned people out.
A live video selfie
It shows that you’re a real person and that your photos are you. It isn’t shown to anyone, and Tong never receives the video.
Every photo checked
Each photo is checked, and its face compared with your selfie, before it’s shown. Nobody sees your profile until it passes, and you can’t browse anyone until then either.
Then, and only then, people can see you.
You decide who finds you
- Choose who you see, and separately who can find you, by gender, age and distance. Gender and age always work both ways.
- Hide from Discover whenever you need a break: for a day, a week, or until you’re back. Your friends and chats carry on.
- People see your area and a rounded distance, never your exact location. Your phone number, email and date of birth are never shown.

In chat
A chat opens only after a friend request is accepted. Nobody can message you before that.
Nobody at Tong reads your chats, and they aren’t scanned or analysed by Tong or any other company. A reviewer sees a message only if one of you reports it. Chats are not end-to-end encrypted.
Online and Seen show only if you both turn them on. There’s no “last seen”.
Voice and video messages are deleted 90 days after they’re sent. Anything you send can be saved or forwarded, so think before you send photos or videos.
If something feels wrong
- Tap ⋯ on a profile or in a chat to report or block. To report one message, press and hold it.
- A block isn’t announced, and a report never says who sent it. Our team reviews every report.
- A report from a chat includes your last 20 messages with them, so the reviewer sees what happened. The form tells you before you send it.
- Already blocked them, or the chat has ended? You can still report them for 30 days, from Settings.
If someone threatens to share your photos
- Don’t pay, and don’t send anything more.
- Stop replying, but keep the chat.
- Report the message with “Threatening to share my images”, then block them.

Meeting a new friend
For friends you made online.
Take your time.
Chat on Tong first. You don’t have to share your number or your social media until you’re ready.
Keep private things private.
Don’t share your home address, workplace, bank or mobile banking details, NID, passwords or log-in codes. Tong will never ask for your code.
Never send money.
Don’t pay, lend or invest for anyone you met online, whatever the story: an emergency, a gift, a job abroad or an investment. Report anyone who asks.
Meet in public, and tell someone.
Choose a busy public place. Tell someone you trust where you’ll be; a cha plan’s menu can share it with them. Arrange your own ride there and back.
Think before you send photos or videos.
Anything you send can be saved or forwarded.
Trust your instincts.
If something feels wrong, leave, block and report. You don’t owe anyone a reply.
Our rules
Worried about something? Report it in the app, or write to contact@tong.party with “Safety” in the subject.
If you’re in danger, call 999 first. Email isn’t answered around the clock.
